Summary of Job Duties:
The Graduate Student Association President organizes and coordinates all activities of the UA Little Rock Graduate Student Association. The Graduate Assistant will work 10 hours a week. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required education and/or experience


  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing students;
  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance;
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher;
  • Maintain enrollment of at least 6 credit hours;
  • Must be elected by a majority of voting graduate students as GSA President or be appointed to that role by the Graduate Dean or the universitys Student Government Association;

Preferred education and/or experience


  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; work well with students from a wide variety of graduate programs and cultures
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Leadership experience especially in other student organizations

Job duties and responsibilities


  • Schedule lead and attend GSA meetings regularly
  • Schedule lead and attend GSA activities regularly
  • Recruit GSA officers
  • Recruit grad students to serve on university committees including Grad Council
  • Collaborate with GSA members to create content for the GSA website and social media platforms
  • Connect with grad students both on campus and online to learn about their interests and needs
  • Meet regularly with the GSA faculty advisor to plan GSA activities and discuss grad student issues
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Can organize and manage multi-step projects
  • Can lead teams and delegate tasks
  • Can collaborate effectively with students and faculty members
  • Learns and works effectively with technologies including webpage publishing and social media
  • Familiar with committee meeting procedures minutes and agendas
