Grade 4 and 5 Spanish Classroom Teacher Aide, Lower School

The Harker School is seeking a Spanish-speaking Teacher Aidefor our 4^thand 5^thgrade Spanish classesduring the 202627 academic year.This is a part-time temporary position expected to continue through at least the end of December 2026 with the possibility of extension.

The schedule is Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The aide reports to the assigned classroom teacher and supports the instructional process in the manner the teacher determines to be most effective.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English.
• Must have experience working with children preferably students in grades 45.
• Must hold current first aid and CPR certifications or complete training provided by The Harker School.
• Must be able to communicate and work effectively with students of varying ages and skill levels.
• Must possess strong reading writing and numeracy skills.

• Engage students in a healthy safe and inspiring learning environment.

• Attend required school training related to students emotional and social development.
• Model appropriate attendance punctuality dress language work ethic and behavior.
• Attend required meetings and employee-student interaction training.

• Assist grade 45 classroom teachers with instruction
• Support students academic needs as identified and outlined by the classroom teacher.
• Help prepare instructional materials and implement daily lesson plans under the teachers direction.
• Proactively support students who are having difficulty focusing on a lesson or learning the material.
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with the classroom teacher and remain focused on helping students learn.
• Maintain open communication with the classroom teacher and promptly report concerns to the supervising teacher or division head.
• Assist with occasional clerical tasks as needed while keeping direct work with students as the primary responsibility.

• Ability to observe student behavior assess its appropriateness enforce safety rules and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
• Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental or other job-related hazards.
• Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid or other emergency assistance.

The position is performed in a school and classroom environment with no anticipated hazardous or unusually unpleasant working conditions.

Compensation:

Pay for this position is determined according to The Harker Schools establishedpay scaleand is based on relevant education and experience as evaluated by the Human Resources Department. The posted pay range reflects the full pay scale for this position. While the maximum rate is included for transparency most new hires can expect to fall within the lower to middle portion of the pay scale based on their qualifications and experience.
