Golf Course Superintendent

• Assists with developing annual budgets and capital plans. Manages expenses within the department in accordance with the property directive.
• Maintains ongoing awareness of all agronomic activity on the course and provides constant feedback and direction to key staff members.
• Maintains clear understanding of and implements all Troon Golf Agronomy standards in addition to ensuring compliance with all local state and federal regulatory standards/laws.
• Supports the planning organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction.
• Ensures proper mixing calibration and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course.
• Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed requested or required by the Director of Agronomy Troon Golf representatives the DOG or GM.
• Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city state and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
• Responsible for interviewing hiring training planning assigning and directing work evaluating performance rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Ensures both upward and downward communication within the department and inter-departmentally.
• Provides leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork communication ethical behavior cleanliness and a can do attitude.
• Directly supervises department members that may include but is not limited to: Assistant Superintendent 2nd Assistant Superintendent Head Mechanic Environmental Technician Equipment Operator Greenskeeper and Irrigation Technician.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

• Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science).
• Experience in the Florida Panhandle Region and as a Superintendent (preferred).

• Regularly stands walks and sits.
• Regularly uses hands reaches with arms and hands talks or hears.
• Occasionally climbs balances stoops kneels crouches crawls tastes or smells.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

• Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts fumes and/or airborne particles.
• Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
• Noise level is moderate.

• Valid Drivers License.
• Pesticide Application License.

• Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
