About the Role

We are seeking an experienced equity investor to be a key member of our Consumer team within Global Industry Research (GIR) with responsibility for conducting research and making investment recommendations within the Apparel & Retail industry.

Our Global Industry Analysts (GIAs) are the firms subject matter experts for their respective sectors. Their job is to generate superior investment returns through fundamental company sector and industry research and analysis. GIAs set their own research agendas which are core to their individual philosophy and process. They are expected to be thought leaders in their respective sectors. Our most successful GIAs demonstrate a consistent ability to generate differentiated investment insights and effectively guide a broad range of diversified PMs into what they view as the most compelling and differentiated investment ideas across their opportunity set. Our GIA team also serves as Portfolio Managers. They have the privilege of managing significant client assets across multiple concentrated alpha sleeves as part of our $150 billion research portfolios suite of products in addition to other client solutions.

Our GIAs impact extends far beyond the research they are doing and the assets they are managing. As a subject matter expert they have the ability to influence a broader range of portfolio managers that manage across a range of investment styles regions time horizons including benchmark-relative total return and long/short investment strategies. Our investment culture thrives with rich rigorous and respectful debate of insights assumptions and thesis across multiple independent perspectives often with unique client objectives and individual portfolio team processes. Our GIAs are at the core of this debate - igniting and contributing to the debate with the common goals of generating superior investment returns for our clients.

Stock Picking Acumen Alpha Generating Skill and Passion

  • Ability to be forward-looking comprehend the factors influencing a stock and discern its critical drivers. Demonstrated track record of successful stock recommendations based on a philosophy and process that enables the consistent generation of alpha across the consumer sector.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and taking risk.

  • Possess a highly analytical and discerning mindset with robust risk and valuation framework.

  • Creative and differentiated approach to identifying emerging company sector trends and key inflection points with data agility and ability to build own data sets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional qualifications and characteristics:

  • A minimum of 8 years of consumer investing experience ideally with specific risk-taking experience in apparel and retail companies.

  • Skill to identify key drivers of an industry company and stock and creativity to think through innovation/long term stock winners and losers.

  • The capacity to discern the primary factors influencing a specific industry and the companies within it.

  • Exceptional analytical and valuation skills and the ability to make meaningful connections across a given sector.

  • A global perspective and orientation with the ability to think strategically and tactically within the Consumer sector.

  • Dedication to fiduciary responsibility with an unwavering commitment to achieving positive client outcomes and upholding the highest standards of personal and professional integrity and ethics.

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and independently taking full accountability and ownership of the narrative.

  • Strong academic credentials; MBA or CFA/CAIA strongly preferred.


LOCATION
The Global Industry Analyst will be based in Wellingtons Global Headquarters in Boston MA. Location in Wellingtons New York office with regular travel to Boston will also selectively be considered.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary variable compensation and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 90000 - 180000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salaryis only one component of Wellingtons total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives if eligible.
