The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Development Engineers role is to develop program scripts applications databases and reporting queries in support of a wide variety of GIS projects and support of these activities the position may participate in requirements gathering business process analysis system design planning implementation release and on-going support of GIS systems and services. This position contributes to the success of the IS Department by developing proactive solutions and systems for County Departments and Offices in support of current GIS services needs and their future GIS-based initiatives. While the focus of this position is on the support of GIS projects the function of the GIS Development Engineer role might also involve support of other applications or systems which integrate with or leverage the GIS environment. This position will be expected to work with limited supervision and can partner with IS staff and customers through diplomatic and positive communications.
Typical Qualifications
BA / BS degree in GIS; geography; computer science information systems or related field; two or more years experience in object-oriented software application development data analysis software documentation testing and debugging development of software requirements and business analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
