We are seeking a dedicated and versatile General Shop Laborer to join our manufacturing team. This role involves supporting various fabrication machining and assembly operations within the shop environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude familiarity with manufacturing tools and equipment and a proactive attitude toward safety and quality standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills in a dynamic industrial setting contributing directly to the production of high-quality components. Duties General understanding of use of hand tools forklift operation and a good mechanical aptitude. Will be dis-assembling and cleaning parts sandblasting and working to support the inspection department. Assist with material handling including loading unloading and organizing raw materials and finished products using equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Support machining operations by preparing workpieces setting up tooling and maintaining CNC machines including laser cutters lathes milling machines and plasma cutters. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on shop equipment to ensure optimal operation. Read and interpret blueprints technical drawings and specifications to assist in fabrication and assembly processes. Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers micrometers and gauges to verify dimensions and quality standards. Support welding activities by preparing materials and assisting welders in assembly tasks. Maintain a clean safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and properly handling hazardous materials. Assist in quality inspection processes to ensure products meet specified tolerances using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles. Support fabrication tasks involving sheet metal work tooling setup and component assembly. Operate forklifts cranes or other heavy machinery as required for material movement within the shop. Experience Prior experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided. Familiarity with CNC programming concepts or machining operations is advantageous. Basic understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical drawings is essential. Knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures is desirable. Ability to use hand tools calipers micrometers and other precision measuring instruments accurately. Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in machining fabrication or assembly processes. Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to manufacturing tasks.
