Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Sales Manager to lead our automotive sales team and drive dealership performance. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong track record in automotive sales management team development customer satisfaction and profitability. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the sales department including new and pre-owned vehicle sales sales processes inventory management performance coaching and achieving revenue goals.
Lead motivate and develop a high-performing sales team to achieve and exceed sales objectives.
Manage daily operations of the sales department ensuring efficiency and adherence to dealership standards.
Recruit train mentor and evaluate sales managers and sales consultants.
Monitor sales performance metrics establish goals and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
Collaborate with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) department to optimize customer experience and dealership revenue.
Analyze market trends competitor activity and inventory levels to develop effective sales strategies.
Ensure compliance with dealership policies manufacturer requirements and applicable regulations.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and address escalated customer concerns when necessary.
Oversee inventory management and vehicle merchandising to support sales objectives.
Conduct regular sales meetings performance reviews and training sessions.
Develop and maintain relationships with customers community partners and manufacturer representatives.
Forecast sales volumes and prepare reports for executive leadership.
Minimum of 5 years of automotive sales management experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven success in achieving sales targets and driving dealership profitability.
Strong leadership coaching and team-building skills.
Excellent communication negotiation and customer service abilities.
Knowledge of automotive retail operations CRM systems desking tools and dealership management software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
Experience managing both new and used vehicle operations.
Strong understanding of digital retailing and lead management processes.
Ability to interpret financial statements and departmental KPIs.
Experience with manufacturer programs and performance standards.
