General Manager Renaissance Hotel Des Moines, IA

The beautiful and historic Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel is currently seeking a dynamic General Manager at our StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. The General Manager will lead the hotels day-to-day operations ensuring optimal financial and revenue performance and continuous improvements in guest satisfaction and associate morale.

The world class branded hotel is ideally located in downtown Des Moines Iowa which makes it the perfect business and leisure destination.

The General Manager will oversee a full-service Food and Beverage operations including a restaurant bar/bistro catering and banquets operation that boasts over 12000 square Ft. of meeting space.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all hotel departments: Front Office Housekeeping Food & Beverage Sales and Engineering
• Lead mentor and develop department heads and team members
• Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and company policies
• Act as the primary decision-maker for daily operations

• Develop and manage annual budgets forecasts and P&L performance
• Drive RevPAR ADR and occupancy through strategic initiatives
• Control labor and operational costs while maintaining service quality

• Ensure exceptional guest service and high satisfaction scores
• Monitor online reputation and implement service recovery strategies
• Maintain strong presence in the lobby and guest-facing areas

• Partner with Sales & Marketing to drive group corporate and transient business
• Build relationships with local businesses and community stakeholders
• Analyze market trends and competitor performance

• Ensure compliance with safety legal and brand requirements
• Maintain property condition preventative maintenance and capital planning
• Work with ownership and corporate leadership on long-term strategy

Qualification

• 510 years of progressive hotel leadership experience
• Previous General Manager or Assistant General Manager experience a must
• Strong knowledge of hotel operations finance and revenue management
• Proven leadership and team development skills
• Marriott brand experience strongly preferred
• Excellent communication problem-solving and organizational abilities
