General Maintenance Worker
Department: Plant Facilities Operations
Location: Columbia MO
Type: Full-Time
Pay: 17.00 per hour

Job Summary:
The General Maintenance Worker assists the General Maintenance Supervisor in the general upkeep and maintenance of all buildings.
Essential Functions:
- Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia Colleges vision mission and values and contributes to the development of the Plant and Facilities Operations Department.
- Practice superior customer service.
- Display respect and civility to all constituencies in all communications.
- Attend work timely and on a regular basis during the established hours of operation; work additional hours as business necessitates.
- Painting including preparation and clean-up.
- Install ceiling tile floor tile and wall coverings.
- Install or hang items such as window shades blinds curtain rods ceiling fans light fixtures and bulbs door locks and pictures.
- Move and install furniture fixtures and equipment.
- Assist with installation and finish drywall and light carpentry work.
- Assist with minor electrical work associated with repair and replacement of all types of lighting.
- Assist with snow removal.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Position reports to: General Maintenance Supervisor
Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
- Ability to fluently read write and understand the English language.
- Proficiency with the following but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
- Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with or without direct supervision.
- Excellent communication interpersonal customer service and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in hardware & maintenance.
- Working knowledge of drywall installation general painting and carpentry methods tools and materials.
- Two years experience with electrical repair.
- Two years experience in general maintenance.
Required Level of Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Requirements: Ability to satisfy within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal state and local laws a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Missouri Class E drivers license or ability to attain one.
- Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College.
- Ability to move and lift minimum 50 pounds
