Position Overview Pay starting up to $25The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the wastewater treatment system ensuring that all wastewater is discharged within compliance of all local and federal agencies regulations. Because of the nature of the position they will be handling hazardous substances daily while maintaining a safe working environment. Duties & Responsibilities:Proper labeling of hazardous waste storage containers and satellite containersOperate on-site treatment system for hazardous wastePrepare solid chemical waste for shipment to off-site disposal facilitiesMaintain updated chemical supplies and waste inventory informationMake chemical additions and perform tank chemical maintenance dutiesReports to management on activities and issuesOther duties and responsibilities as requested and needed Requirements and Skills:Previous experience in a similar setting is preferredWorking understanding of basic chemistry is preferredAbility to learn how to operate an atomic absorption spectrophotometerFamiliarity with proper handling storage and disposal of hazardous materialsCompany and job-specific training will be provided as needed throughout employmentAbility to work well and communicate clearly with management and organizational skills and the ability to follow instructionsAbility to maintain a regular and reliable attendance recordHigh school diplomaForklift operation certification is requiredThis is a safety-sensitive position as defined in section 181.950 subdivision 13 subject to drug and alcohol testing provisions in sections 181.950 to 181.957. Physical DemandsProlonged periods standing and walkingClimb laddersMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
