Job Summary
General Foreman I - Long Island City
The General Foreman I oversees the inspection maintenance repair and modification of rail cars and locomotives. This role manages a team of mechanics technicians laborers cleaners and supervisors while ensuring work is completed safely efficiently on schedule and within budget. The position is responsible for equipment reliability workforce leadership maintenance planning regulatory compliance and continuous operational improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily inspection maintenance repair and modification of rolling stock equipment.
- Lead and manage teams of mechanics technicians laborers cleaners and supervisors.
- Ensure equipment reliability and maximize availability through preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Oversee maintenance operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Coordinate work orders maintenance schedules and documentation.
- Manage personnel resources budgets and project timelines.
- Monitor quality standards and implement process improvements.
- Utilize safety management systems to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
- Prepare reports and communicate operational updates to leadership.
Education & Experience
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of relevant industrial railroad marine or plant maintenance experience.
- Leadership or management experience required.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of workplace safety programs.
