Job Summary

The General Counsel Intern provides research analytical and administrative support to the Legal Department while gaining practical experience in an in-house legal environment. Under the supervision of the VP and General Counsel the General Counsel Intern assists with legal research contract administration litigation support and other projects that contribute to the efficient operation of the Legal Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Excellent organizational skills and particular attention to details possess the ability to handle multiple work assignments and work well under pressure.

Assist with the administration of the companys contract management system including obtaining and saving fully executed contracts accurate data entry of material terms of the same monitoring contract deadlines and expiration dates.

Updating and building upon existing contract management system to ensure accuracy.

Maintain litigation tracking document and providing regular internal reporting to management.

Prepare draft agreements based on company templates.

  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics and prepare memoranda summarizing findings for attorney review.
  • Assist with compliance regulatory and corporate governance projects as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Currently enrolled in an accredited Juris Doctor (J.D.) program and in good academic standing.

Strong legal research analytical and writing skills

Proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel; willing and able to quickly learn computer programs typically used in a legal setting (CT Corp DocuSign etc.).

Ability to read legal documents such as contracts statements of work NDAs etc.

Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal employees management and external customers.

Ability to speak effectively and present information to customers clients and management.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:

Requires valid drivers license.
