Role Overview:
A state government IT department is seeking an experienced IT Applications Project Manager to lead and manage multiple end-to-end IT applications and software projects. The PM will drive process improvement documentation management and project governance across a portfolio of parallel projects working with internal teams vendors and engineering stakeholders with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead full project lifecycle management for multiple concurrent IT applications and software projects

Manage project tracking and reporting using a structured Waterfall framework while supporting Agile (Scrum/Kanban) development teams

Review and interpret contractual documentation to extract scope deliverables compliance obligations and milestones

Build and maintain detailed project schedules using MS Project or Project Online; manage dependencies and hold teams to baseline plans

Create project charters kick-off presentations and communications plans for technical and non-technical audiences

Facilitate routine project meetings/ceremonies; maintain project boards and dashboards in Jira and ServiceNow

Draft process documentation and how to guides; archive meeting notes and follow-ups

Identify project constraints risks and inefficiencies; escalate appropriately

Maintain project status reports and roadmaps using the integrated tool stack
Required Skills & Experience:

5 years of project management experience specifically with software development or IT applications

Proficiency with MS Project or Project Online for schedule development and management

Experience reading contractual documentation and extracting project scope deliverables and compliance obligations

Highly proficient in writing editing and follow-through

Proficiency with Jira Confluence ServiceNow SharePoint
Preferred Skills:

Experience with both Waterfall and Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies in a hybrid delivery environment

PMP CAPM or equivalent project management certification

College Degree in Business Administration Information Technology Engineering or Computer Science
Additional Details:
Standard business hours Monday Friday 8 hours/day. Hybrid arrangement with onsite presence in Atlanta (Midtown) once per week and on demand. First day is required onsite. Local candidates (Atlanta Metro / State of Georgia) strongly Citizens Green Card holders or EAD holders only. Contract is subject to annual renewal based on budget availability.
