• Primary Purpose of Role:
  Under the direction of the Furnace Supervisor the Furnace Operator sets up and operates manufacturing equipment associated with material fabrication.

  Key Responsibilities:

  Loads specified furnace that re-melts nonferrous alloyed metals used in die casting process: shovels specified proportions of scrap metal and ingots into furnace.

  • Mix fluxing compound on molten metal to bring impurities to surface.

  • Skims slag from surface of molten metal using hand strainer.

  • Transfer molten metal from furnace to bull ladle to die casting holding furnace.

  • Clean furnaces and equipment.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Other duties assigned by supervisor or lead.

  Key Performance Measures:

  • Must have forklift experience.

  • Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.

  • Ability to maintain normal flow of production.

  • Must be able to pass powered lift equipment testing.

  • Ability to read write and speak English.
