We are currently seeking a diligent and skilled Public Works Maintenance Worker to join our team and contribute to the upkeep and improvement of our citys facilities including animal control responsibilities.

Job Description: As a Public Works Maintenance Worker you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks related to public infrastructure including streets parks municipal buildings animal control and operating heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic attention to detail and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on city streets sidewalks parks and public buildings.
• Operate and maintain various tools and equipment including power tools mowers and light construction equipment.
• Drive and operate a brush truck and other heavy machinery.
• Conduct inspections of public facilities and report any issues or needed repairs.
• Participate in landscaping and groundskeeping duties including mowing trimming and planting.
• Respond to emergency calls for service and assist in emergency response activities such as snow removal and storm cleanup.
• Carry out animal control duties including capturing and safely handling stray or lost animals and transporting them to the appropriate facilities.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with team members and other city departments to complete projects efficiently.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid drivers license.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL); the city will provide CDL classes and cover associated costs.
• Previous experience in public works maintenance construction animal control or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting bending and working in various weather conditions.
