Location: Logan Circle Washington DC
Schedule: MondayFriday approximately 9:00 AM5:00 PM with some flexibility as needed
Salary: $35$40/hour commensurate with experience

A warm and busy family in the Logan Circle Washington DC is seeking a proactive and energetic Full-Time Housekeeper / Family Assistant to help care for their home and support their day-to-day household needs. The family consists of two parents and two daughters ages 10 and 11. They are currently a pet-free household.

The family lives in a beautiful five-story approximately 6700-square-foot home with a rooftop garden. They are naturally very clean and tidy and are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully organized home. Rather than attempting to deep clean the entire residence each day the family prefers a thoughtful routine with daily upkeep throughout the home and a more detailed focus on approximately one floor each day.

Daily responsibilities will include general household cleaning and organization family laundry dishes grocery shopping errands and ensuring the home remains tidy and running smoothly. The ideal candidate is someone who can walk into the home recognize what needs to be done and take ownership of their day without requiring a detailed task list.

The family does much of their own cooking so extensive cooking is not required. However someone comfortable assisting with occasional light meal preparation ingredient prep and preparing simple foods for the children would be helpful. One of the children follows a gluten-free and dairy-free diet so familiarity with dietary restrictions or a willingness to learn is important.

The family travels frequently making packing and unpacking an important part of the position. Someone who is highly organized and comfortable preparing the family for travel assisting with luggage unpacking upon their return and getting the household reset afterward would be a tremendous asset.

The children generally have established transportation for school and activities; however there may occasionally be times when the Family Assistant is asked to assist with a pickup or transportation if the familys regular arrangements are unavailable. Some schedule flexibility may therefore be needed particularly around Thursday afternoon activities. The candidate should be comfortable navigating and driving within the area.

The ideal person for this family is bright upbeat smart energetic and easygoing. They are looking for someone who thinks ahead and anticipates potential headaches or roadblocks before they become problems. This person should genuinely enjoy creating solutions staying one step ahead and making the familys everyday life easier.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the familys approximately 6700-square-foot five-story residence
  • Complete daily household upkeep with a rotating schedule for more detailed cleaning throughout the home
  • Handle family laundry including washing folding ironing/steaming as needed and putting items away
  • Maintain bedrooms bathrooms living areas kitchen and common spaces
  • Wash and put away dishes from the previous evening and morning
  • Keep household spaces organized tidy and well maintained
  • Grocery shop including regular trips to Whole Foods and other local stores
  • Run household and family-related errands throughout the Logan Circle/DC area
  • Monitor household staples and proactively restock items as needed
  • Assist with occasional light meal and ingredient preparation
  • Prepare simple foods while adhering to the gluten-free and dairy-free dietary needs
  • Assist with occasional school or activity transportation when the familys regular driver is unavailable
  • Help prepare the family for frequent travel including packing and household preparation
  • Unpack organize and reset the household following family travel
  • Anticipate household needs and proactively address issues before they become problems
  • Assist with additional family and household needs as they arise
Qualifications
  • Previous professional housekeeping family assistant household management or similar private-home experience
  • Experience maintaining a large multi-level private residence strongly preferred
  • Excellent cleaning laundry organization and household-care skills
  • Highly proactive and able to work independently without constant direction
  • Naturally organized with strong attention to detail
  • Bright energetic positive and easygoing personality
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate needs and potential challenges
  • Comfortable grocery shopping and running errands throughout Washington DC
  • Comfortable navigating and driving within the city
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable assisting with occasional child-related transportation and tasks
  • Comfortable working with gluten-free and dairy-free dietary restrictions
  • Experience packing and unpacking for family travel is highly preferred
