We are looking for a Full-Stack Engineer with 3 years of experience to build the core software platform for a new insurance-backed rent guarantee program. Youll be the engineer responsible for architecting and shipping the systems that allow our clients largest clients to run insurance programs in-house: from policy lifecycle and claims to bordereaux and carrier reporting. This is a 0-to-1 build at a company thats already helped over a million people access housing. The ideal candidate has been an early engineer at an insurtech startup and has owned broad pieces of the insurance workflow end-to-end.
What will you be doing
Build the core system of record for a rent guarantee program: policies premiums refunds cancellations claims and reporting
Build bordereaux and carrier/reinsurance reporting systems (the most complex and highest-signal piece of the work)
Build quote/bind/issue workflows supporting carrier requirements and state-specific rules
Integrate with fronting carriers MGA/admin partners payment processors and property management systems
Build internal tools for insurance operations claims review underwriting review and escalations
Minimum 3 years of experience in full-stack product engineering for insurance workflows
Built software at an insurtech startup or insurance-related company (MUST HAVE no exceptions: e.g. Rhino Jetty Guarantors LeaseLock Coalition)
Early engineer owning broad scope across policy lifecycle claims or bordereaux
Direct experience with rent guarantee or security deposit alternative products
Computer Science undergrad degree
Strong TypeScript and Python: builds reliable systems without AI-prompting through implementation
Built bordereaux or carrier reporting systems end-to-end
Experience with quote/bind/issue workflows or premium reconciliation
Ships fast then hardens: bias toward practical working systems over perfect architecture
Remote OK; San Francisco-based preferred
IC role: must be actively writing code daily
