FT Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Annual Salary: $37799-$40091 (based on assigned program and shift)

Shift Differential: Earn an additional $2.50 per hour for eligible evening overnight and weekend shifts.

Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking compassionate and dependable Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to adults in our residential and community-based programs.

As a DSP youll help individuals build independence achieve personal goals and live meaningful lives within their communities. Whether supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) mental illness or substance use disorders youll play an important role in promoting dignity choice and recovery.

• Provide direct care and assistance with daily living activities including personal care meal preparation medication support and household routines.
• Encourage independence by helping individuals develop life skills participate in community activities and achieve their personal goals.
• Follow individualized service plans monitor individuals well-being and complete accurate documentation.
• Maintain a safe respectful and supportive environment while collaborating with supervisors and the interdisciplinary team.

Our Direct Support Professionals may work in one or more of the following adult service programs:

• Residential Services for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF).
• Adult Mental Health Residential Programs and Residential Substance Use Treatment Programs.
• Community-based programs that promote independence recovery and community inclusion.

• At least one (1) year of experience providing direct care or support to adults with IDD mental illness substance use disorders or in a behavioral health healthcare or human services setting.
• Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong communication teamwork and problem-solving skills with a commitment to person-centered care.
