Job Summary

North Florida Surgeons- Baptist Jacksonville division is looking for an energetic patient focused Front Desk/Surgery Scheduler team member. We are looking for a coordinator with experience in the medical field who thrives on challenges and working with the public. As the Front Desk/Surgery Scheduler you will act as the vital liaison between patients surgeons hospitals and insurance providers. You will manage all administrative and logistical aspects of a patients surgical journey including scheduling procedures verifying insurance coverage gathering medical clearances and ensuring the patient is prepared for surgery.
Job Duties:
  • Scheduling & Coordination:Book operating room time pre-operative appointments and post-operative follow-ups with surgeons and hospitals.
  • Insurance & Billing:Verify patient insurance benefits secure prior authorizations and educate patients on their financial responsibilities (co-pays and deductibles).
  • Pre-operative Prep:Ensure all necessary medical charts lab results and physician clearances are complete before the surgery date.
  • Patient Communication:Instruct patients on pre-surgery preparations (fasting medication changes) and post-operative recovery expectations.
  • Liaison Duties:Serve as the central point of contact for patients surgeons hospital nurses and medical equipment vendors.
  • Calendar Management:Maintain and adjust surgical calendars to accommodate emergencies or unexpected scheduling changes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Education:High school diploma or GED equivalent required associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years of administrative or scheduling experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred.
  • Technical Skills:Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge:Strong understanding of medical terminology medical insurance processes and HIPAA regulations.
  • Soft Skills:Exceptional customer service high organizational abilities strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
