POSITION: Freshman Class Advisor Class of 2030

LOCATION: Portland High School

Portland Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic organized and student-centered individual to serve as the Freshman Class Advisor for the Class of 2030 at Portland High School. This position provides leadership and guidance to the freshman class officers and class members while fostering school spirit leadership development and class unity throughout their high school experience.

The Freshman Class Advisor will work collaboratively with student leaders school administration staff parents and community members to plan and implement activities that build a positive class culture encourage student involvement and support fundraising efforts for future class activities and senior events.

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Knowledge of student leadership organizations and class advisor responsibilities.
• Experience planning organizing and supervising school events or student activities.
• Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate mentor and develop student leaders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students staff parents and community members.
• Demonstrated commitment to creating a positive and inclusive school environment.
• Must have fingerprints scanned electronically and submitted to the Michigan State Police prior to hire.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Serve as the primary advisor for the Portland High School Freshman Class (Class of 2030).
• Guide and mentor freshman class officers in developing leadership teamwork communication and organizational skills.
• Facilitate regular class officer meetings and assist students in planning agendas setting goals and accomplishing class objectives.
• Coordinate supervise and support class-sponsored activities and events throughout the school year including fundraising initiatives class meetings school spirit activities Homecoming participation and other school-sponsored events.
• Assist students in establishing long-term fundraising goals and planning for future class activities including senior events and graduation-related expenses.
• Work with student officers to develop and maintain class budgets and fundraising records.
• Ensure all activities comply with district policies school procedures financial guidelines and student safety expectations.
• Collaborate with building administration the Student Council Advisor and other staff members to promote school spirit student engagement and a positive school climate.
• Supervise students during meetings fundraising activities and school-sponsored events as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate records related to class activities fundraising and finances.
• Encourage broad student participation and foster a sense of belonging and class pride among all members of the Class of 2030.
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator or building administration
