Job Summary

Wilkes University invites applicants for an open French II high school teaching position in the Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program that provides support to high school students in career exploration preparation for college and ultimately their higher education pursuits.

The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the academic component of the program by providing supplemental instruction and support in advanced French I and introductory French II concepts to a small group of high school students. Through structured class periods the instructor will help students strengthen their existing French language skills while introducing more advanced vocabulary grammar reading writing listening and conversational skills. A Bachelors degree in French Education and/or a related field is required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.

Please note that this is a part-time temporary position for Fall 2026 with an hourly wage. Program dates run from September 24th through December 10th with classes held Thursday evenings from 6:30 P.M. 8:20 P.M. The hired teacher will be responsible for one (1) 50-minute class period each Thursday and will be informed of the schedule ahead of time.
