Job Summary
- 28 hours per week
- In this role you will work a *rotating schedule (see below). Work performed on Monday - Friday will be during the hours of 9:00am - 4:30pm; Work performed on Saturday and Sunday will be during the hours of 8:00am - 3:30pm. (*alternate schedules may also be available)

- Are exposed to strongly disagreeable conditions;
- Prepares bodies for autopsies and subsequent release to funeral directors;
- Assists in the performance of autopsies and collection of relevant information;
- Assists in removal of organs collection of body fluids and retention of specimens for special studies;
- Prepares fixative solutions;
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of autopsy facilities and equipment;
- Assists in maintenance of appropriate records;
- May take fingerprints and photographs;
- Picks up decomposed and traumatized bodies;
- Takes inventory of and makes receipt for clothing and valuables;
- Maintains chain of custody of body and evidence from crime scenes;
- Handles the removal of bodies from hospitals and/or secured crime scene areas;
- May take and develop X-rays;
- Performs related duties as required.

- Possession and retention of a Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operators License.

- Experience physically performing the lifting of bodies of various weights and sizes (must be able to lift at least 200 lbs.).
- Willingness to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases as necessary.
- Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operators License.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel. Incumbents must be available for calls on an emergency basis.
