Job Summary
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent
Summary of Position: As a key member of the Field Operations team the Foreman is responsible for planning coordinating and supervising self-performed work and assigned subcontractor activities to ensure projects are completed safely efficiently and in accordance with project plans specifications quality standards and schedule requirements. The Foreman provides daily leadership to field crews promotes a culture of safety and accountability and collaborates closely with the Superintendent Assistant Superintendent and project team while developing the next-level field leadership skills needed in scheduling site logistics inspections documentation QA/QC safety compliance and trade coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Organize assign and effectively lead daily work activities for Blach field crews ensuring work is completed safely efficiently and to quality standards
- Supervise self-performed work to support daily productivity safety quality control and compliance with project plans and specifications
- Perform and lead layout by independently executing and overseeing layout activities directing crew members in establishing accurate control lines elevations and benchmarks
- Verify layout accuracy double-check dimensions before installation anticipate potential conflicts and ensure work is installed correctly efficiently and in alignment with project requirements
- Interpret and utilize full plan sets specifications submittals and shop drawings to plan work ensure proper installation and verify compliance with project requirements
- Continuously mentor Carpenters Laborers and junior colleagues by providing coaching training and feedback to develop skills confidence and performance
- Monitor crew size and forecast future manpower needs; promote effective time management and efficient use of resources
- Use intermediate scheduling skills to understand short-term schedules and look-ahead planning sequence work align crew activities with milestones identify schedule impacts and adjust plans to maintain progress
- Foster an environment that encourages communication collaboration accountability and active engagement among crew members
- Set expectations hold team members accountable lead by example and maintain a productive and respectful work environment
- Check in with the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent at the beginning and end of each shift to review progress priorities issues documentation needs and next steps
- Coordinate and oversee assigned subcontractor activities to ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements and aligned with schedule logistics safety and quality expectations
- Communicate and coordinate with subcontractors to align sequencing access work areas safety expectations quality requirements and conflict resolution
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance resolve field questions coordinate access to work areas recognize MEPF or trade coordination conflicts and enforce regular jobsite housekeeping
- Perform material takeoffs for lumber hardware concrete and other project materials; identify material needs coordinate procurement and ensure materials are available when needed without over ordering
- Schedule procure and maintain appropriate tools and equipment for project execution; conduct monthly tool inventories and report findings to the warehouse team
- Develop details and solutions for self-performed work activities; master and apply advanced carpentry skills and serve as a technical resource for complex work
- Recognize how labor productivity material usage delays and rework impact project costs and make decisions that minimize waste and avoid unnecessary cost impacts
- Identify long-lead items constructability concerns document discrepancies missing information and potential project issues requiring RFIs; escalate items appropriately to the Superintendent Assistant Superintendent or project team
- Support and implement site logistics by managing site organization material flow staging access sequencing and work areas to maximize efficiency and safety
- Lead weekly safety meetings and consistently model safe work practices
- Develop and enforce safety protocols; implement safety plans identify required safety equipment enforce compliance and proactively address unsafe conditions or behaviors
- Perform weekly safety inspections use required safety documentation or software complete required reports and collect and distribute subcontractor safety meeting minutes to the project team
- Read and understand Red Folder procedures at the beginning of each project; regularly inspect tools and equipment for safe and proper operation
- Inspect self-performed and subcontractor work to ensure quality proper installation and compliance with project plans and specifications
- Implement QA/QC standards apply company quality processes perform inspections and ensure work meets project requirements while minimizing punch list items
- Manage and support inspections by preparing work for city special and AHJ inspections coordinating schedules with the project team participating in owner or coordination meetings as required and ensuring deficiencies are addressed promptly
- Prepare and cost code employee timecards; draft daily reports with clear accurate information regarding activities manpower progress issues safety quality inspections and conditions; participate in Foremens meetings subcontractor coordination meetings and labor reporting as directed
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Superintendent
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of commercial construction field experience with prior leadership or Foreman experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods materials sequencing field coordination and site logistics
- Mastery of advanced carpentry skills with the ability to serve as a technical resource and mentor others
- Ability to perform and lead layout establish accurate control lines elevations and benchmarks and verify layout accuracy before installation
- Ability to read interpret and utilize full plan sets specifications shop drawings submittals and applicable contract document requirements
- Intermediate understanding of project schedules short-term sequencing milestones look-ahead planning and the ability to communicate schedule impacts to the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
- Basic understanding of potential cost impacts including labor productivity material usage delays rework cost coding field documentation and decisions that support cost control
- Proficiency in field technology and computer programs including daily reports drawings scheduling tools QA/QC software safety software and other construction programs
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to set expectations hold team members accountable lead by example and maintain a respectful work environment
- Ability to effectively lead crews assign tasks manage daily productivity and maintain safety and quality standards
- Strong communication organizational time management and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to safety QA/QC standards inspections proactive issue resolution constructability review and identifying items requiring RFIs
- Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain; active Carpenters Union membership preferred though non-union candidates with equivalent experience will be considered
Position Status: Full-time regular business hours non-exempt

Salary Range: $160000 - $165000 Based on Union Pay Rate
