In this position...
- Ford Racing is looking for an experienced and driven Low Volume Manufacturing Manager to lead our niche manufacturing efforts across Motorsports and Road Car applications.
- This leader will build and grow a center-of-excellence for advanced manufacturing technologies shape investment and capability decisions and lead a team that partners closely with Design and Release engineers to accelerate development timing avoid unnecessary capital spend and deliver innovative race-proven solutions.
- This is a high-visibility leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technology strategy team development and hands-on manufacturing execution.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Set the strategic direction for low volume vehicle and (potentially) additive manufacturing at Ford Racing identifying which technologies equipment and capabilities the organization should invest in or partner on
- Build lead and develop a team of engineers serving as the center-of-excellence for low volume manufacturing working closely with Design and Release engineers through design-for-manufacturing and product launch.
- Establish and deliver against key performance indicators to measure the growth and impact of low volume manufacturing efforts across the business
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and suppliers negotiating scope timing and financial commitments to ensure successful outcomes
- Drive integration of low volume manufacturing capability into both near-term program needs and long-term vehicle architecture planning
- Identify the manufacturing capability requirements to support all of the highest potential vehicle programs
- Identify additional functions / capabilities that must be in-sourced to stand up the model choices to make and recommendations
- Design manufacturing floor layouts for motorsports & production vehicles
- Establish manufacturing principles to guide a design for manufacturability specific to low volume vehicles
- Design robust manufacturing standards independent of Ford norms (i.e. a low volume Bill of Process integrated to Ford standards)
- Integrate with heritage vehicle business development opportunities
- Negotiate contracts with partners as needed
- Travel - Limited to site visits for benchmarking or supplier or partner visits etc.
Qualifications
Youll have...
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Broad knowledge of total vehicle manufacturing process including Body construction Paint Final Assembly EOL and Control Plan execution.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing technologies to inform when where and how processes should be adjusted for low volume manufacturing situations.
- Significant demonstrated experience in low volume manufacturing including specification and implementation of equipment design for manufacturing build execution and quality confirmation processes
- Proven experience leading and developing salaried technical teams
- Strong understanding of the product development process and ability to work effectively and credibly with design and release engineers
- Track record of leading strategic technology or capability decisions including capital investment and supplier/partner relationships
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to represent the organization to senior leaders and external partners
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset able to make sound decisions based on overall value and business impact
- A competitive spirit and passion for winning with no tolerance for excuses

- Masters degree in Engineering Engineering Management or Manufacturing Engineering
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing technologies
- Experience managing supplier and strategic partner relationships for equipment or outsourced manufacturing capability
- Enthusiast background or passion for performance products and motorsports
- Experience influencing capital equipment investment decisions at an organizational level

This position is leadership level 5 and ranges from $141700-$268300.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
