Position Summary:The football chain crew plays a critical role in accurately managing down markers and chains during a game assisting officials in measuring the line of scrimmage and the distance needed for a first down. Crew members must possess technical knowledge physical stamina and attention to detail.

Essential Functions:
The primary responsibility is to assist game officials in marking the line of scrimmage and the line to gain using specialized sideline equipment under the direct supervision of the officials.
To serve as the official group responsible for managing the down markers and the 10-yard chain to indicate the line of scrimmage and the required distance for a first down.
To follow instructions from game officials particularly the Head Linesman to maintain accurate and timely placement of the equipment.
Set up inspect and accurately place the down marker and chains according to official instructions.
Move quickly and accurately to reset the down marker and chains after each play ensuring they are in alignment with the ball.
Communicate with the Head Linesman to receive instructions and to report any equipment issues or sideline crowding.
Remain alert to the games flow staying aware of players and actions near the sideline to avoid disruption.
Display professionalism refrain from any partisan reaction to the game and act as an assistant to the officiating crew.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma GED or equivalent.
A good understanding of football rules and regulations particularly concerning downs and distances.
Display effective skills in teamwork good coordination and the ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to run walk and stand for extended periods and maintain the physical pace of the game.
