Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and passionate Site Director to join our team This position plays a vital role in supporting our mission to foster youth development healthy living and social responsibility. The Site Director will oversee a site location for our Find My Genius Program ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational services to child and families in the community with a focus on STEM-based academics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees afterschool Find My Genius Site.
- Develop and implement academic programs that align with YMCAs mission and objectives emphasizing hands on and STEM-based academics.
- Collaborates with staff to enhance program effectiveness and reach more participants.
- Monitor program activities evaluate outcomes and make necessary adjustments to improve performance.
- Train schedule supervise and mentor 3 or more academic staff ensuring they possess the skills and knowledge to facilitate hands-on academic and STEM-based lessons effectively.
- Provide ongoing support mentorship and professional development opportunities for staff members.
- Serves as a positive role model nurturing children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships within families.
- Supervises scholars classroom or site as well as all activities breaks and transitions including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents schools community organizations and other stakeholders through program activities family nights parent conferences etc.
- Maintain accurate records including participant data attendance records and program evaluations. Gathers information for the scholars portfolio such as anecdotal observations art artifacts and other record keeping.
- Makes ongoing systematic observations and evaluations of each child monitoring their educational and social progress and making necessary recommendations for adjustments.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by implementing and enforcing appropriate safety protocols and procedures.
- Follows all policies and procedures including those related to medical and disciplinary situations child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Consistently supports classroom and behavior management to develop a safe and productive learning environment through positive reinforcement techniques.
- Continuously scans a variety of environments and surrounding areas for potential hazards and takes appropriate action to remove or avoid them.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations including child safety standards licensing requirements and the CA Quality Standards for Expanded Learning Programs.
- Helps to implement program testing at the beginning middle and end of the programs runs test scores and creates appropriate curriculum.
- Attends staff meetings and completes all assigned online and in-person trainings.
- Maintains a positive attitude towards scholars parents coworkers school personnel school and site director
- Assist scholars with homework.
- Attends field trips and other special events.
- Maintains site budget and purchases snack and other program supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 12 units in ECE Child Development Education or other related field plus completion of the Child Care Administration course
- Teaching Credential a plus
- Experience working with students individually and in small groups
- Ability to plan and lead interactive ELA and Math activities
- All required online training must be completed before starting work which will be compensated for accordingly
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and volunteers
- Knowledge of educational principles curriculum development and assessment techniques particularly in science and STEM education
- CPR & First Aid Certifications through a nationally recognized organization. Certifications must be maintained and current at all times
- Criminal records clearance
- Certifications (must be maintained and current at all times):
- CPR & First Aid certifications through a nationally recognized organization.
- Mandated Reporter certification.
- Germ Management through California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
Physical Demands
- Ability to plan lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings
- This position may require the ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time wade in water in order to supervise children able to walk continuously at least ½ mile spend a full workday outdoors in any weather condition
- Ability to lift to 25 pounds
