Job Summary:
We are seeking a detailed-orientated strong team player and highly organized candidate to join our group as a Surgical Care Coordinator. You are responsible for the coordination and education of services for our patients receiving surgery with our Orthopedic/Spine Physicians. You will play a vital role in patient scheduling procedure coordination and surgery chart preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule patients for Orthopedic/Spine Surgeries
- Verify patients insurance benefits and coverage; collecting any out-of-pocket patient responsibilities
- Obtaining pre-operative clearances from Primary Care Providers Cardiologist Nephrologist etc
- Coordinate with patients their pre-operative surgery and post-operative appointments and requirements
- Coordinating any changes with Physicians surgery schedule with Clinical Director and/or facilities
- Preparing weekly surgery charts for clinical team members
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with patients providers team members and facility staff
- Entering and updating patient information in the EMR system
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
- Any other job duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Customer Service Experience
- Anatomy knowledge
- Insurance knowledge
- Excellent oral and written communication & analytical skills
- Requires adherence to all policies and procedures including standards for safety attendance punctuality and personal appearance
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively remain calm in busy or stressful situations and work well with minimal supervision; skill in exercising initiative judgement discretion and decision-making to achieve practice objectives
- Knowledge and adherence to HIPPA Compliance and OSHA
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience as a Surgical Coordinator
- Experience with EMR software preferred Athena
- Experience with Microsoft applications Word Excel Office 365
