The Fleet Services Shop Supervisor leads daily shop operations and supports the Manager of Fleet Services in executing department priorities. The position supervises shop personnel coordinates shop workflow supports inventory management and works closely with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Transportation Risk Management personnel to maintain compliance audit readiness and current corrective actions. The role ensures fleet equipment is maintained safely efficiently and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 6AM - 6PM

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily operations of Fleet Services.

  • Supervise and assign work give proper instructions and manage performance of the Lead Mechanics Tractor and Trailer Mechanics and parts personnel.

  • Monitor shop performance including productivity preventive maintenance compliance labor efficiency repair quality and work order completion. Report trends and recommendations to the Manager of Fleet Services.

  • Lead shop meetings safety briefings fleet walks and operational reviews to communicate daily expectations and priorities.

  • Coach and develop shop personnel through daily leadership technical guidance training coordination and performance feedback.

  • Provide guidance for advanced diagnostics and repairs involving tractors trailers yard equipment emissions electrical hydraulic brake and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

  • Utilize Fusion to review work orders and completed repairs for accuracy labor and parts accountability and timely completion.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and inspection schedules to meet established maintenance intervals and Federal Motor Carriers Safety Association (FMCSA) requirements.

  • Review repair estimates parts requirements and maintenance expenditures and provide recommendations to the Manager of Fleet Services within established approval requirements.

  • Coordinate work with approved vendors and third-party maintenance providers and report cost quality and concerns to the Manager of Fleet Services.

  • Partner closely with EHS personnel to maintain compliance with safety environmental Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Department of Transportation (DOT) and company requirements.

  • Support audits keep findings and corrective actions current and escalate unresolved compliance concerns.

  • Escalate significant safety personnel equipment inventory vendor and customer service issues to the Manager of Fleet Services.

  • Actively promote and maintain the Shaw SAFE program within the shop.

  • Assist with interviewing onboarding training certifications and workforce development for shop personnel.

  • Use Microsoft Office Trimble Fleet Maintenance Management Software Trimble Maintenance Technology (TMT) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic software and reporting platforms.

  • Utilize Workday to administer corrective actions and coaching conversations in a timely manner when appropriate.

  • Utilize Workforce to complete all required timekeeping reporting daily.

  • Follow procedures for employees returning from Leave of Absence (LOA).

  • Ensure company policies are adhered to and attendance policies are followed.

  • Other duties as requested by management.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed.

  • Must be visible and engaged with associates on the floor daily.

  • Serve as acting shop leader during the Managers absence while following established policies approval limits and escalation procedures.

  • Maintain a safe organized compliant and productive work environment.

  • Attend all staff meetings.

  • Order supplies as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma GED or equivalent.

  • At least one year of management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance diagnostic systems FMCSA and DOT requirements inspection programs maintenance records OSHA requirements and environmental compliance.

Preferred Qualifications/ Certifications

  • 3-5 years of fleet maintenance transportation heavy equipment or related experience.

  • Lead Mechanic experience.

  • Experience with TMT/TMW OEM diagnostic systems Workforce Microsoft Office and operational reporting platforms.

  • Section 609 EPA Certification or ability to obtain within six months.

  • Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to obtain within six months; current DOT Medical Card.

  • ASE Brake Inspector and Annual Inspector certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours.

  • Must be able to climb stairs.

  • Must be able to climb in and out of fleet equipment and inspect equipment in shop and field environments.

  • Will be required to bend stoop squat lift up to 50 pounds carry and reach occasionally.

  • Continual use of arms and legs throughout the shift.

  • Must be able to sit at a desk for an extended period and perform activities include typing/keying information into a computer attending meetings online.

  • Must be able to travel throughout the pand to all satellite facilities
