Job Summary

First Cook (Remote Mining Camp) Winnemucca NV

We are seeking an experienced 1st Cook for rotational site-based work at a remote mining camp site in the Winnemucca NV region. Our camp operates at approximately 150 occupancy.

Basics

  • Prepare and serve breakfast lunch and dinner for approximately 150 residents including from-scratch cooking baking and desserts (as provided by Matrix)
  • Plan menus that meet resident preferences and dietary/allergy requirements while staying within budgeted food costs
  • Manage food inventory: ordering storage labeling and FIFO rotation according to the Matrix food safety plan
  • Maintain kitchen standards: safe clean and organized workspace with a strong team-first approach
  • Train support and supervise kitchen staff while keeping production running smoothly

Requirements

  • Experience preparing meals for small and large groups in a remote camp kitchen setting (3 years remote camp experience required)
  • Ability to produce from-scratch menu items including baking/desserts
  • Food Safety / Food Handler certificate (required)
  • First Aid / Advanced First Aid certification (required)
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices (safe storage sanitation and food handling)
  • Ability to lead train and coach kitchen staff when required
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety cleanliness and teamwork

Mine Site Safety & Compliance (MSHA / Nevada)

  • MSHA certification is required
  • Must comply with all applicable mine safety and health requirements including MSHA regulations (30 CFR) and site-specific safety orientation/training
  • PPE and site rules are required (specific PPE listed by the site upon onboarding)
  • Reference and criminal record checks will be conducted
  • Some sites may require pre-access drug screening and/or fitness-for-duty clearance

Preference

Preference will be given to local candidates (and candidates with proximity) in the Winnemucca NV region.

Employment Eligibility

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Matrix will comply with all applicable U.S. employment verification requirements (I-9)

  • Job Types: Full-time Seasonal (Rotational)
  • Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off
