Job Description:

SUMMARY

Provides non-instructional support within the Fire Academy of Cuyahoga Community College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides non-instructional support to the Firefighter Physical Agility Testing program as test proctors
  • Provides non-instructional support to the Firefighter Training Academy through maintenance and operation of essential equipment and instructional props
  • Provides non-instructional support in the transport and delivery of essential equipment/materials required for Live Fire Training exercises and other Advanced Fire Training programming

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated knowledge in all types of tools and equipment used in firefighter training
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of regular work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Valid Ohio drivers license and ability to meet the Colleges insurability requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively to individuals at all levels internal and external to the College
  • Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

  • Experience in fire training

  • Work is partially performed in an outdoor environment where employees may not be protected from weather conditions
  • Work is performed in an environment where a persons voice needs to be heard clearly in an outdoor classroom environment
  • Work may also require some walking; standing; bending; carrying and placement of firefighting equipment as well as carrying light items such as papers files pamphlets books etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing for long periods of time

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position with the following Set Rate of Pay: $18.12/hour.
