Job Summary
DataField Technology Services is currently seeking a dedicated Fire Alarm Technician for a six-month contract-to-hire position with our client a leader in the commercial security and safety industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the commercial installation troubleshooting and maintenance of fire alarm systems. This role requires a blend of mechanical and electrical knowledge to ensure the safety and functionality of our systems in various commercial settings. This position involves regular regional travel within the radius of Columbus Dayton and Lima and a company vehicle alongside a fuel card will be provided upon hire. We are open to candidates of varying experience levels; those with a general electrical background will be provided with formal in-house training located in Lima Ohio.
Compensation for this contract-to-hire position ranges from $24 to $40 per hour and is strictly contingent upon your level of commercial experience and active certifications.
Responsibilities
- Install maintain and repair commercial fire alarm systems according to safety standards and local building codes.
- Travel regionally between client sites in the Columbus Dayton and Lima areas to execute field service and installation tasks.
- Utilize power tools effectively and safely to perform installation tasks with precision.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand system layouts and specifications.
- Provide field service support troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues as they arise during installations or maintenance visits.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely project completion while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Accommodate occasional overnight travel within the state of Ohio (advanced notice will be provided).
- Proven experience in commercial installation or maintenance roles preferably related to fire alarm systems or general electrical fields.
- NICET Certifications (particularly Level III or IV) are highly desired for experienced candidates.
- Willingness to complete initial and ongoing training at the facility in Lima Ohio.
- Valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record for the operation of the provided company vehicle.
- Electrical knowledge is essential for troubleshooting and repairing electrical components of systems.
- Ability to read schematics accurately to guide installation processes effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering quality service in the field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
