The Virginia Workers Compensation Commission (VWC) is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Services Specialist to support payroll and accounting operations that help keep our organization running smoothly.

What Youll Do
As a Financial Services Specialist you will provide accounting and administrative support across several key financial operations including payroll accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Responsibilities include:
Assist with payroll processing and maintain supporting payroll documentation.
Partner with Human Resources to research and resolve employee payroll questions.
Enter and maintain financial data related to civil penalties and file copy invoices.
Provide excellent customer service while responding to financial inquiries.
Serve as back-up support for processing payments within Cardinal Financials.
Process invoices and claim awards accurately and timely.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties to support the Financial Services Department.
What Were Looking For
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Experience supporting payroll accounts payable accounts receivable bookkeeping accounting support or other financial operations.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to learn new systems quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency using Microsoft Excel Word Outlook and other business software.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time wage position.
Up to 29 hours per week
Typically 34 days per week
Flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the Financial Services Department including payroll processing deadlines and other workload demands.
This position works on-site in our Richmond office. Telework is not available at this time.
Telework Structure
Our agency is currently using a hybrid model for teleworking.
Our positions currently are not 100% teleworking. However we do have a liberal telework policy in place and all candidates would be expected to report to our Headquarters as requested.
Telework is not guaranteed and is subject to the operational needs of the Commission. Upon hire candidates should expect to have all training and orientation conducted at the Headquarters Office or as required.
Selected candidates who reside outside of Virginia will need to receive Commission approval prior to an offer being finalized.
Work Location
This positions central workplace is the Virginia Workers Compensation Commissions Richmond Headquarters.
Employees must be able to report to the Richmond office as required by operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience supporting payroll accounts payable accounts receivable bookkeeping accounting support or other financial operations is preferred.
Experience in one or more of these functional areas will be considered.
Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
Excellent oral and written communication data entry and organization skills.
Payroll Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable knowledge and the ability to work within the state statues rules and regulations.
Additional Considerations
Experience using enterprise financial or payroll systems is preferred. Experience with Cardinal Financials and Human Capital Management (HCM) is preferred.
