Financial Counselor

As our Financial Counselor you will play a critical role in realizing CommonSpirit Healths mission by assisting patients with the financial aspects of their healthcare journey. This position is responsible for ensuring patients understand their insurance benefits and available financial options helping them navigate often complex payment responsibilities. Youll work collaboratively with clinic staff and other facilities to ensure efficient compliant and patient-centered financial services.

Every day you will perform comprehensive financial counseling including discussing health insurance benefits billing practices pre-collections and setting up payment arrangements. Youll identify potential financial resources like Medicaid Marketplace plans COBRA and financial assistance programs. This includes obtaining pre-authorizations communicating approvals/denials to clinical staff providing cost estimates and assisting patients with charity care or financial assistance applications ensuring they understand all available financial pathways before treatment begins.

To be successful in this patient financial services role you will need a strong working knowledge of clinical office procedures medical terminology and basic understanding of federal/state regulations related to healthcare. Experience in healthcare revenue cycle functions including insurance or registration experience and/or healthcare collections/customer service is preferred. Exceptional communication skills the ability to manage multiple priorities self-motivation and computer proficiency are essential to provide compassionate and accurate financial guidance to our patients within our faith-based healthcare system.
