Job Summary
As Big Happy enters its next phase of growth were adding a Financial Controller to lead our accounting function end-to-end. Youll make sure our books are clean our close process runs on time and leadership has the numbers they need to make good decisions all while building scalable audit-ready processes. This role reports to the Head of Finance & Strategy and partners closely with Finance Legal People and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Manage monthly quarterly and annual close across multiple entities ensuring timely accurate financial statements
- Oversee AP AR payroll and the general ledger including invoicing collections vendor payments and reconciliations
- Own the preparation and posting of journal entries and general ledger transactions
- Partner with Finance on budgeting forecasting and variance analysis
- Own vendor spend management including contract review renewals and consolidation
- Manage debt obligations - borrowings repayments covenant compliance and lender reporting
- Oversee day-to-day cash management including cash positioning liquidity planning and bank relationships
- Lead revenue recognition and ASC 606 compliance
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Design and maintain a robust internal control environment across all entities and locations
- Own relationships with external auditors and tax advisors ensuring successful audits/reviews and timely accurate filings across all jurisdictions
- Manage all intercompany transactions
- Collaborate across Legal HR and Operations to support cross-border scaling and business efficiency
Systems & Process Improvement
- Own NetSuite and core financial systems driving optimization and reporting enhancements
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes for efficiency accuracy and scalability
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (CPA required)
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience including 3 years as a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Experience in a high-growth multi-entity multi-currency environment
- Track record of building or improving close processes and internal controls
- Strong systems experience (NetSuite or similar ERP; or similar a plus) and advanced Excel skills
- Highly analytical detail-oriented and proactive with strong communication skills across finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Self-starter that thrives in fast-paced ambiguous environments
- Comfortable working across functions and communicating financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders

Compensation:
The total Compensation range for this role is $150000-$200000. This range is inclusive of base pay and bonuses. Compensation will vary based on location and experience.
Location:
This opportunity is Remote for candidates outside of commutable distance to our New York City Office. Only candidates in the United States and in the EST and CST time zones will be considered.
