Financial Counselor

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Financial Counselor to assist patients with insurance verification financial screening payment arrangements and financial assistance programs.

• Conduct patient financial screenings and interviews.
• Verify insurance eligibility benefits copays deductibles and patient responsibility.
• Obtain insurance authorizations for ED admissions Inpatient and BHU.
• Assist with Medi-Cal Charity Care and financial assistance applications.
• Establish payment plans and cash-rate arrangements.
• Maintain accurate registration and financial records.
• Perform daily audits of ED accounts.
• Explain hospital state and federal financial policies to patients and families.
• Support and train Registration staff as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients families physicians and staff.

• 23 years of hospital financial counseling experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare Medi-Cal HMO PPO EPO Managed Care and commercial insurance.
• Hospital patient registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Must complete required AVIP/Fire Card and AIDET training.

Schedule:Must be flexible to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.
