POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania State University Office of Budget and Finance invites applications for the position of a Finance Planning Analyst to support the financial operations of the Eberly College of Science. The Finance Planning Analyst will support the Strategic Finance Partner in providing oversight of budgetary and fiscal operations within the College. Responsibilities include advising departments on budget management financial controls policies and procedures; providing training and guidance to employees responsible for unit budgets; and developing documenting and implementing processes procedures systems and standards that support the efficient operation of the office and the Colleges financial activities. The Finance Planning Analyst will also serve as a resource on university financial policies and procedures and assist departments in ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and requirements.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reconcile and manage ledger and clearing accounts for business areas; identify investigate and resolve discrepancies as needed

  • Compile financial data for analysis and forecasting and generate reports to support business area decision-making

  • Perform assigned audit functions and assist with annual financial processes for business units across the College

  • Assign budget sources for expenditures to ensure accurate tracking and visibility of spending on special budgets

  • Analyze and verify funding sources to ensure expenditures comply with applicable fund spending guidelines

  • Prepare financial forecasts and analyze trends in revenues expenditures and other business-related areas

  • Monitor budget performance and identify under- and over-expenditures within assigned business areas; conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions as needed

  • Collaborate with departments and administrative units to improve financial processes reporting and operational effectiveness

  • Assist with annual budget development planning and implementation activities

  • Provide both formal and informal training and guidance across the College

  • Support special projects and strategic financial initiatives within the College and the Office of Budget and Finance

MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree 1 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position including all possible grades is $51000.00 - $74000.00.
