Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm located in the Skid Row neighborhood of Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants working-poor families people who are disabled or experiencing homelessness people living with HIV/AIDS and homeless veterans.
Position Description: ICLC seeks a highly motivated Payroll Manager to oversee all aspects of payroll processing ensuring accuracy timeliness and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) the Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the organizations end-to-end payroll operations maintaining payroll systems ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and collaborating closely with Human Resources and Finance to support organizational success.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of end-to-end payroll process including preparation analysis maintenance and processing.
- Maintain strong level of controls and checks and balances.
- Assist in improving and implementing payroll processes working closely with HR to ensure efficient flow of information.
- Refine and maintain finance processes for onboarding and offboarding employees.
- Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures for both LegalServer timekeeping and Paycor.
- Ensure accuracy of data in both LegalServer and Paycor.
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations including for out-of-state employees researching and resolving any issues that may occur.
- Work closely with the Grants Accountant in developing allocation plans for the entire organization.
- Manage and support the processing of timesheets including verification of proper coding of time approvals and alignment with allocation plans. Address issues directly with staff members and supervisorsescalating non-compliance to HR as needed.
- Support monthly allocation of payroll and other expenses.
- Ensure all reconciliations of payroll balance sheet accounts are completed and that variances are resolved.
- Liaise with staff and leadership on payroll-related queries.
- Manage and support the implementation of any new payroll systems that may be introduced.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Bachelors degree or equivalent work -depth experience with payroll processing and payroll administration with proficiency in spreadsheets QuickBooks Microsoft Office Suite and payroll systems such as Paycor. Organized detail-oriented and able to assume responsibility quickly and independently in a rapidly growing organization. Ability to use sound judgment effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines. Self-motivated proactive and solutions-orientedwith a high level of integrity professionalism and confidentiality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Finance and Human Resources. Must have access to reliable transportation.
Compensation: Annual compensation ranges from $70304 - $90000 per year and is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits.
