Job Summary
What You Will Own
Operating & Capital Expense Management
Own the companys OpEx and CapEx budgets build track and reforecast spend
across engineering tape-out and G&A categories
Partner with engineering and program leads to plan capital spend on EDA tool licenses
IP licenses lab equipment and prototype/tape-out costs
Monitor burn rate and cash runway on an ongoing basis; flag variances early and
recommend corrective action to leadership
Maintain and continuously update the companys OpEx model as headcount vendor
commitments and program costs change
Payroll Administration
Own end-to-end payroll processing ensure accurate on-time payroll for all employees
and contractors including multi-state and multi-classification compliance
Administer payroll-related withholdings benefits deductions and equity-related payroll
entries in partnership with People Ops/HR
Maintain payroll records and respond to audit tax and compliance requests
Expense Lease & Burden Cost Management
Own the employee expense reimbursement process review approve and reconcile
submitted expenses against policy Manage lease obligations for office lab and equipment space track payment
schedules renewal dates and amortization
Own burden cost categories benefits insurance facilities and overhead allocations
and ensure they are accurately reflected in the financial model
Manage vendor invoicing and accounts payable so obligations are tracked and paid on
schedule
Financial Reporting & Executive Communication
Prepare and deliver regular financial performance reporting to the CEO COO and
executive leadership team actuals vs. budget burn rate runway and forward outlook
Build and maintain dashboards and models that give leadership real-time visibility into
spend and financial position
Partner with outside accounting tax and audit firms on month-end close tax filings and
financial statement preparation
Support fundraising and investor-reporting needs with accurate audit-ready financial
data
What We Are Looking For
Required Experience
7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience including direct ownership of
OpEx and CapEx budgeting for a technology or engineering-driven company
Hands-on payroll management experience including multi-state exempt/non-exempt
and contractor-vs-employee classification
Proven track record building and maintaining financial models budget-to-actual
reporting and cash-flow/runway forecasting
Experience managing expense reimbursement lease administration and
vendor/accounts-payable processes
Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy at a small fast-moving company
this is a hands-on function you will personally run not one you will delegate to a large
team
Strongly Preferred
Experience at a semiconductor hardware or other deep-tech startup familiarity with
EDA tool licensing IP licensing and tape-out/NRE cost structures
Experience preparing board-ready or investor-ready financial reporting packages
Familiarity with equity compensation accounting and cap table fundamentals
CPA CMA or equivalent professional qualification
Experience selecting implementing or administering financial ERP or payroll systems
(e.g. QuickBooks NetSuite Gusto ADP or Rippling)

Role Details
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer with regular direct reporting to the CEO and executive
leadership team on company financial performance
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (preferred); hybrid considered for exceptional candidates
