Position Summary
Black Briar Management is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Finance & Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations across BBMs property portfolio and subsidiaries ensuring financial accuracy regulatory compliance and timely reporting. The ideal candidate brings 35 years of hands-on finance and accounting experience and thrives in a fast-paced high-standard environment. Reporting directly to the CFO this individual will play a key role in building and strengthening BBMs financial infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounting function including accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger and bank reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Prepare accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for CFO review.
- Oversee property-level financial reporting for BBMs portfolio of companies.
- Maintain and monitor cash flow budget variances and expense reporting across all managed properties and entities.
- Coordinate with the CFO and leadership team on financial planning forecasting and strategic reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards applicable tax regulations and internal financial controls.
- Understand the full scope of business operations and develop innovative approaches to P & L analytics
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Support external audits and coordinate documentation and responses for any regulatory inquiries.
- Assist in developing and refining accounting policies procedures and internal controls.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support leadership decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- 35 years of progressive accounting experience ideally within property management real estate or hospitality.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi a plus).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and standard accounting practices.
- Experience managing multi-entity or multi-property accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
- Exceptional attention to detail organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA licensure.
- Prior experience in luxury real estate hospitality or mixed-use property management.
- Experience supporting CFO-level leadership with financial reporting and analysis.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (a plus not required).
