Job Summary

Title: Field Service Engineer / Sr. Electrical Field Engineer
Location: Remote with travel within Atlanta GA area
Type: Direct Hire
Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer / Senior Electrical Field Services Specialist to perform complex startup commissioning maintenance testing and troubleshooting of medium and low-voltage electrical power systems. This includes transformers circuit breakers switchgear/switchboards protective relays motor control centers and backup power supplies. The role is Remote and candidate will provide service support to sites located throughout the Atlanta GA area.

Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Engineer / Senior Electrical Field Services Specialist you will:

  • Perform basic to complex installation and checkout of electric and electronic components for systems service installed jobs and service agreements
  • Tasks associated with maintenance and testing of switchgear / switchboard motor controls circuit breakers panel boards transformers and surge protection devices.
  • Responsible for vibration analysis and metering battery maintenance and testing power monitoring power quality and protective relay maintenance.
  • Install wiring and connect to the power source.
  • Perform emergency troubleshooting of power distribution products and 3rd party equipment.
  • Perform complex service upgrades reconditioning retrofits etc. for low voltage power distribution products and systems.
  • Perform onsite technical and operational support in the installation and maintenance of equipment and systems.
  • Provide instructions to the customer as well as training and technical assistance as needed regarding proper operation routine inspections maintenance or adjustments.
  • Perform install test commissioning and start-up of low and medium voltage power distribution equipment including switchgear and breakers
  • Perform hands-on commissioning testing and troubleshooting of protection and control relay

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Field Service Engineer will have 3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits and ability to obtain certifications as needed
  • Must have experience commissioning testing and troubleshooting with low voltage and medium voltage power distribution systems including switchgear experience
  • Must have 3 years of recent experience with electrical testing (examples: primary injection testing resistance testing dielectric testing thermal scans on low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems
  • Must have 3 years of experience with performing various electrical testing methods and electrical test sets (example: HiPots TTR Transformer Power Factor testing etc.)
  • Must have recent On-the-Job or Educational Experience with the following:
  • Interpreting protective coordination studies and testing and configuring protective relays
  • Reading bills of material electrical blueprints and power system study reports
  • Installation commissioning and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distributions systems
  • The arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and the following electrical equipment: Siemens GIS AIS WL RL and SB breakers and switchgear
  • ANSI NEC NFPA IEEE and NETA codes and standards
  • Must be able and willing to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word Excel and Outlook)
  • W2 Only must be able to legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associate Degree
  • Relevant certifications or safety training (e.g. AVO NICET NETA)
  • Field-based commissioning and testing experience in industrial utility or power distribution environments
