Gough Econ Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Field Service Technician to join our team in Charlotte NC. This is a hands-on role where most of your time is spent in our shop assembling and building industrial equipment with additional travel to support customer installations and service.

If you enjoy working with your hands reading blueprints and seeing equipment come together from start to finish this is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a specialized environment.

What Youll Do

  • Assemble and align material handling equipment (conveyors bucket elevators feeders)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Use hand and power tools to fit align and install components
  • Test disassemble and prepare equipment for shipment
  • Travel to customer sites to:
    • Support installations (guidance and adjustments-not full installs)
    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Work directly with contractors and customers to ensure proper setup

What the Role Looks Like

  • 70% shop-based (Charlotte) hands-on mechanical assembly
  • 30% travel mostly short trips of 3-4 days with occasional projects up to 23 weeks
  • Primarily domestic travel with occasional international support

What Were Looking For

  • Mechanical experience with industrial equipment or machinery
  • Ability to read blueprints and work from drawings
  • Experience using tools in a shop maintenance or field environment
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with customers
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Helpful backgrounds:

  • Millwright maintenance technician equipment assembler
  • Material handling or conveyor systems
  • Experience with motors or drives

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift climb and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments and at heights
  • Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally including occasional weekend work tied to travel
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record and ability to obtain/maintain a valid U.S. passport
  • Must pass background check and drug screening

Tools: Employees are expected to provide a basic set of personal tools (wrenches sockets hand tools steel/composite toe boots). Additional specialty tools and PPE are provided.

  • $2633/hour with rates varying based on whether work is performed onsite or during travel assignments
