Description
The Field Service Technician will service troubleshoot and repair a diverse fleet of portable power generation units and related support equipment for National Oilwell Varco L.P. Work will be performed in both the company shop and at customer sites ensuring reliable power delivery for critical operations.

The Field Service Technician will service troubleshoot and repair a diverse fleet of portable power generation units and related support equipment for National Oilwell Varco L.P. Work will be performed in both the company shop and at customer sites ensuring reliable power delivery for critical operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on generators and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical electrical and control system faults in the field and shop.
- Disassemble rebuild and reassemble engine components alternators and control panels.
- Maintain accurate service records work orders and parts inventories.
- Coordinate with customers to schedule service calls and provide technical support.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Calibrate and test generators to verify performance specifications.
- Assist in training junior technicians and apprentices on service procedures.
- Manage and transport tools parts and equipment to field locations.
- Provide feedback to engineering and product development on recurring issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical/electrical engineering preferred.
- 2 years of experience servicing portable power generators or similar equipment.
- Proficiency with diesel engines alternators and electronic control systems.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record; ability to travel to remote sites.
- Strong problemsolving skills and ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- Ability to work independently in varied environmental conditions.
- Basic computer skills for documenting service reports and using diagnostic software.
- Commitment to safety practices and use of personal protective equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including oncall rotations.
