This is a remote position.
As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist you will play a vital role in the
success of our power plant service this role you will be responsible for site
safety and environmental programs in support of our field teams who perform maintenance
and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical generation machinery in
the world including gas turbines steam turbines and generators throughout the US and
Canada
Responsibilities
The EHS Specialist typically provided support on a 7x12 schedule when assigned to
outage/maintenance projects.
The EHS Specialist supports the implementation of EHS programs in support of our Field
Service organization including:
Provide EHS compliance guidance to project teams
Perform daily EHS safety observations of project sites
Manage incident case management
Lead Safety incident investigations related to EHS events while working at job sites
Provide EHS data as required for Siemens Energys internal reporting
Lead site project safety programs including Safety Meetings Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO)
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Rigging & Lifting Scaffolding & Ladders Confined
Space Hazardous Materials and Material Handling.
Professional interaction with customer leadership and with SE senior leadership.
Serve as direct liaison with end customers EHS personnel.
Support Human Performance (HuP) program by engaging crews in Pre-Job Briefs and
using the HuP tools to mitigate hazard
Environmental and chemical programs
Safety incident management reporting and investigation
Establish good rapport with site personnel other contractors and customers.
Provide support to communicate and manage all sections of the EHS site plan.
Conduct safety meetings orientations and EHS training to assure employees
understand the hazards associated with the scope of work and maintain the records of
the aforementioned.
Support incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of Near Miss and
incidents to ensure safe work procedures are being followed with respect to Company
policy OHSA EPA DOT and client/ company policy as well as applicable regulatory
state and federal laws within the specified area where work is being performed. Ensure
Emergency Response capabilities are solidified and maintained.
Ensure deployment of EHS and Regulatory posters/information/notices.
Review customers permit systems including requirements for site posting of permits
LOTO Hot Work Confined Space procedures and Siemens Energy Lift Plans
Escalate accidents and incidents appropriately through company processes and
procedures
Investigate incidents or near-miss events as necessary or required including
compilation and completion of any necessary documentation (Accident investigation or
Near miss forms etc.).
Communicate regular updates regarding injury and illness awareness and mitigating
measures.
Manage documentation related to EHS initiatives and ad hoc programs. (Safety stand
downs)
Ability to manage two shifts in a split shift role
Ability to identify escalate and report complex hazards and risk mitigation
Develop innovative ways to motivate the crew to maintain a strong EHS culture and
maintain safe work practices
Ability and willingness to work holidays weekends and overtime as required by field
assignments
Required Knowledge/Skills Education and Experience
This position requires formal education in EHS related field. Candidate should demonstrate
a comprehensive knowledge of the EHS field including concepts practices and procedures
related to EHS. This position requires an understanding of OSHA Workers Compensation
EPA DOT and applicable State regulations and how these regulations impact our business.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with root cause analysis (RCA) assessment and
incident investigation. Typically a minimum of 8-10 years of successful experience in a
related field.
Required Knowledge/Skills Education and Experience This position requires formal education in EHS related field. Candidate should demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the EHS field including concepts practices and procedures related to EHS. This position requires an understanding of OSHA Workers Compensation EPA DOT and applicable State regulations and how these regulations impact our business. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with root cause analysis (RCA) assessment and incident investigation. Typically a minimum of 8-10 years of successful experience in a related field. This position requires significant travel potentially exceeding 75%. Experience in at least 3 of the following industries: Gas Steam Nuclear Turbines Preferred Knowledge/Skills Education and Experience Demonstrate knowledge of the organizations business practices and issues faced and contribute to problem resolution of those issues. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with root cause analysis (RCA) assessment and incident investigation. Knowledge of Human Factors/Human Performance is a plus
High school diploma or equivalent.
