Felice Massie Distinguished Visiting Professorship of Spanish (26-27)

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for the Felice Massie Distinguished Visiting Professorship of Spanish (one-semester visiting appointment). The appointment for AY 26-27 is expected to begin on January 1 2027 for the Spring 2027 semester. Candidates must have native proficiency in Spanish as well as demonstrating excellence as a writer in Spanish (including poetry fiction and non-fiction)the ideal candidate would also have a Masters degree or PhD in Spanish Hispanic Studies or a related field as well as previous college-level teaching experience. Main responsibilities during the semester of residence include teaching one (1) literature and culture course for the Spring 27 semester in the Spanish section of the department. The Felice Massie Distinguished Visiting professors in RLL are also required to present their work publicly (in English) in one public lecture and are encouraged to participate in the intellectual life of the department during their appointment. The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures provides the Massie Visiting professors with logistical support housing health insurance as well as travel funds and a standard salary (of approximately $60000) for the semester of their appointment at Washington University.
