Faculty Positions

The ADA Forsyth Institute was founded in 1910 as the Forsyth Dental Infirmary for Children (later the Forsyth Institute) to provide dental care to the disadvantaged children of Boston. While continuing to serve children in need yet recognizing the ultimate goal is to prevent dental disease the Institute in 1915 began to focus on scientific research and is today the worlds leader in oral health October of 2023 the Institute joined with the American Dental Association to form the ADA Forsyth Institute a 501(c)(3) entity dedicated to improving peoples oral and overall health and powering the profession of dentistry through cutting-edge basic research creative translational science innovative clinical technologies and global public health outreach. Consistent with the Institutes founding mission the ADA ForsythKids mobile dental program continues to serve children in need.

The ADA Forsyth Institute invites applications from creative dynamic and collaborative scientists for faculty positions at all levels. We seek exceptional individuals whose scientific vision creativity and contributions have the potential to shape the future of oral dental and craniofacial research. Successful candidates will have established a cutting-edge externally funded research program and will bring a record of impactful scholarship collaborative leadership and commitment to scientific excellence. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research aligns with one or more of the Institutes strategic scientific focus areas:

• Microbiology and the oral microbiome
• Inflammation and immunology
• Craniofacial biology and bioengineering

Applicants conducting highly innovative basic translational clinical or interdisciplinary research within these areas are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional creative ability and major scientific promise or achievement in their field of expertise. They will bring a sustained or emerging record of external funding impactful publications national or international recognition and a commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research. Candidates should also demonstrate excellence in mentorship productive scientific leadership and a sincere desire to contribute to the mission reputation and long-term success of the ADA Forsyth Institute.

At ADA Forsyth faculty are expected not only to lead outstanding scientific research programs but also to help strengthen the Institutes prestige provide wise counsel foster collaboration and proactively enhance our mission to improve oral and overall health through discovery innovation education and translation. Qualified candidates must hold a PhD DMD MD DDS or equivalent doctoral degree.
