Job Summary

General Summary of Position:

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a part-time Adjunct Instructor to teach one course on Chinese language level 1. The successful candidate will be expected to start classes on September 1st 2026.

Under the guidance of the Chair of the department the ideal candidate will enhance the students learning experience by integrating a variety of methods and strategies into the teaching process and maintaining a student learning-centered environment. The University of Massachusetts Lowell is committed to increasing diversity in its faculty staff and student populations as well as curriculum and support programs while promoting an inclusive environment. UMass Lowell is an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving-Institution (AANAPISI): The Department of World Languages and Cultures seeks candidates who can contribute to that goal. Instructors will be expected to attend a scheduled orientation in August.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Ph.D degree in a related field in hand
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese and English required.
  • Teaching experience at the college level in lower-division courses for more than 10 years.
