The purpose of the Asset Data Collection Specialist position is to conduct thorough high-quality physical assessments of diverse facilities serving as a critical frontline resource for our data-driven consulting services. This role demands precision technical curiosity and a commitment to delivering accurate information that empowers our clients to make informed capital investment and operational decisions.
The Asset Data Collection Specialist is responsible for performing rigorous onsite data collection capturing the physical and operational realities of building assets across various portfolios. Working under the guidance of our experienced technical leads you will be the eyes and ears on the ground ensuring that every data point is documented with exceptional accuracy. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a mobile fast-paced environment and takes pride in the integrity of their data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts detailed onsite walk-through surveys (ranging from single-day visits to multi-day assignments) to inspect mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems fire and life safety systems building envelopes and site improvements. (This may require climbing two-story ladders accessing roof systems or utilizing lifts; lift operating certification is a plus).
- Performs meticulous high-quality data entry and documentation ensuring all collected information meets internal and client-specific quality standards.
- Captures high-resolution representative photographs and digital documentation of building systems site conditions and specific deficiencies.
- Interviews property owners facilities managers and key site personnel to gather operational history maintenance logs and context regarding current building performance.
- Collaborates with senior staff to review and validate findings ensuring that the data collected aligns with the scope of work and project objectives.
- Operates as a team player collaborating with colleagues and senior staff communicating clearly and effectively and bringing a positive attitude to each work day project and situation.
- Utilizes specialized data collection software and mobile applications to input store and transmit critical asset data in real time.
- Communicates effectively with site stakeholders and internal project teams to ensure seamless project execution and to resolve on-the-ground challenges immediately.
- Travels up to 75% of the time including internationally to various facility locations requiring excellent time management and organizational discipline.
- Other duties as assigned.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Decisions are made with an understanding of standard operating procedures data collection protocols and safety policies.
- This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of data that will ultimately drive significant client decisions.
- Errors in judgment or data collection could impact the reliability of project deliverables necessitating a high degree of accountability attention to detail and proactive communication with supervisor and project teams.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in architecture engineering construction management facilities management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of experience in building evaluation field inspection or construction operations with a working understanding of major building systems: mechanical electrical plumbing fire and life safety structural building envelope material handling.
- Demonstrated experience with onsite data collection or field auditing is highly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and precision.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage time and tasks while working remotely and traveling extensively.
- Ability to translate complex technical observations into clear usable data.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams Excel Word Outlook etc.).
- Advanced proficiency in using mobile technology including data collection applications digital photography and virtual collaboration tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to troubleshoot site-specific issues independently.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time including navigating various climate and site conditions and traveling internationally.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
- Valid drivers license required.
- Relevant trade certifications (e.g. HVAC electrical) or professional certifications (e.g. EIT Assoc. AIA) are a plus.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Ability to comprehend analyze and interpret technical documents and building drawings.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders from building engineers and maintenance staff to property owners and high-level clients.
- Ability to write concise accurate field notes and reports.
- Ability to represent Turner & Townsend with professionalism and courtesy in all client interactions.
