Position Summary

The Facilities Worker I independently performs a variety of semi-skilled facilities and systems maintenance functions as well as works under the direction of journey-level crafts worker. A significant portion of the assigned work will involve roof maintenance and hardscape repairs. Incumbent may also serve in a supporting role of other work assigned to the Multicraft shop that does not require the oversight of a journey-level crafts worker.

FLSA:Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4250 per month (Step 1) - $4882 per month (Step 8)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4250 per month (Step 1) -$5720 per month (Step 16)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings infrastructure grounds and landscape. Knowledge:
Work requires working knowledge of the common terminology methods practices tools and procedures related to building and facilities services maintenance and repair and/or a base knowledge of a building/construction or mechanical trade.

Abilities:
Must be able to perform proficiently a variety of semi-skilled facilities maintenance and repair tasks; operate all applicable tools equipment and systems; follow standard written instructions and procedures; read and write at a level appropriate to the position; perform simple arithmetic calculations as required by the position; and demonstrate the ability to learn maintenance and repair functions. All positions require the performance of strenuous manual labor.

Experience:
These abilities normally would be acquired through any combination of experience and training equivalent to six months of experience as a trades assistant or laborer or six months of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair work.

RequiredQualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability to work outdoors and on the rooftops conducting maintenance and repairs.
  2. Knowledge and experience with remodel tear-down and set-up.
  3. Experience making simple interior and exterior repairs of buildings and furniture.
  4. Ability to maintain records and retrieve data using record-keeping systems.
  5. Ability to prepare standard reports.
  6. Ability to evaluate and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  7. Ability to provide excellent customer service and work cooperatively with a diverse campus population.
  8. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty students staff and members of the community.

Licenses:

  1. Possession of a valid drivers license and maintenance of a good driving record.

Conditions of Employment

  • Satisfactory completion of the background check process.

PreferredQualifications

  1. Ability and willingness to perform asbestos lead and mold abatement if given the proper training.
  2. Ability to pass appropriate OSFM certification exams for Fire Extinguisher inspections.
