Facilities Maintenance Technician
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to provide routine and preventative maintenance throughout STARS facility locations which include day program and residential settings. Our ideal candidate will have had experience working on a maintenance team previously and have the basic skills needed to complete maintenance tasks.

A Day in the Life of the Facilities Maintenance Technician
The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring STARs facilities are safe well-maintained and fully operational. Working under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Maintenance the technician performs preventive maintenance routine inspections repairs and facility improvement projects across multiple agency locations.
This position responds promptly to maintenance issues and facility emergencies identifies and addresses potential safety concerns and helps maintain a clean safe and welcoming environment for the individuals we support and our employees.
Key responsibilities include conducting routine inspections of building systems fire extinguishers emergency lighting and other life safety equipment; completing general maintenance and repairs; and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards DDS regulations and other applicable health and safety requirements. The Facilities Maintenance Technician also assists with maintaining accurate inspection and maintenance records and supports the overall operation of STARs facilities.
Qualifications for the Job:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One to three years of general building maintenance facilities construction or related experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic carpentry painting plumbing and general building repairs
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending climbing ladders kneeling working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Drivers License with Acceptable driving record
- Experience working in a nonprofit healthcare human services or residential setting a plus but not required.
Schedule:
40 hours a week Monday-Friday with flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs
Occasional early mornings evenings or weekends may be required to respond to facility emergencies or complete projects with minimal disruption to agency operations.
