The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting safe and reliable operation of the plants facility and utility systems through preventive maintenance basic repairs troubleshooting and regulatory compliance. The role supports building systems utilities and plant infrastructure including water steam HVAC/refrigeration dust control and general maintenance activities while working independently and with cross-functional teams including production maintenance HSE and contractors.

Job Duties:

Facilities & Utilities Maintenance

  • Perform basic electrical plumbing carpentry HVAC and refrigeration and chiller systems maintenance
  • Troubleshoot assemble disassemble and support repairs of facility and utility equipment
  • Keeps tools equipment machines and work areas in neat clean orderly condition
  • Work with department contractors to ensure compliance and the project achieves objectives
  • Use power tools hand tools and drain clearing tools safely and effectively
  • Ensure GMP and FDA compliance; maintains a safe clean and orderly work area with complete and accurate documentation

Equipment Operation & Support

  • Operate a fork truck and work safely from ladders scissor lifts and boom lifts
  • Support fork truck movement and general plant maintenance activities where required
  • Use HMI controls and basic computer systems CMMS to monitor or support equipment operation

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with LOTO elevated work hazardous waste and general plant safety requirements
  • Support GMP/cGMP expectations in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
  • Support environmental wastewater and stormwater compliance activities
  • Follow fire safety requirements and support plant emergency preparedness
  • Perform all duties safely as per VVF policies and OSHA regulations

Utility Systems

  • Maintain monitor and support water treatment well water and purified water systems
  • Maintain monitor and support boiler and steam and condensate operations while following applicable safety practices
  • Maintain monitor and support fire system fire alarms and emergency lighting systems
  • Maintain monitor and support HVAC systems glycol and water chillers and hot water recirculating systems
  • Maintain monitor and support dust collectors and dust control systems

Teamwork & Availability

  • Communicate effectively and work independently as well as with cross-functional teams
  • Be available to work any shift overtime weekends and holidays as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management. No task is exclusive to a single classification or skillset.

Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Technical training college trade school or certification in maintenance HVAC electrical mechanical or related field preferred
  • Additional safety or equipment certifications (fork truck lift operation boiler etc.) are an advantage
  • 5-10 years of experience in facilities maintenance utilities or industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with basic electrical plumbing carpentry HVAC or refrigeration and chiller systems.
  • Experience supporting water steam boiler fire systems or dust collection systems is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues in utilities including but not limited to chillers compressors boilers water treatment plant AHUs
  • Experience working in regulated environments with GMP/cGMP safety and environmental requirements.
  • Experience operating lifts ladders or material handling equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Must have basic standard and metric hand tools (sockets wrenches pliers channel locks wire cutters).
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers supervisors and maintenance personnel. The ability to read understand and follow verbal and written operating instructions.
  • Ability to learn/perform basic data entry into process control computers.
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends and holidays as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble and disassemble equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and basic technical drawings
  • Good computer skills and ability to use HMI controls
  • Fork truck driving experience
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams
  • Fire safety environmental stormwater water treatment wastewater or hazardous waste experience is an advantage

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk stand or kneel for long periods of time
  • Ability to work at heights and from ladders scissor lifts and boom lifts
  • Ability to work in dusty environments and wear required PPE. (safety glasses steel-toed shoes hearing protection etc.)
  • Ability to perform physical maintenance activities safely in an industrial plant environment
  • Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.); climbing stairs ladders and platforms over conveyors
  • Frequent bending squatting crouching kneeling twisting; handling hand and power/pneumatic tools; reaching lifting carrying pushing and pulling

Other Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and write
  • Physical capability of moderate to heavy lifting climbing stairs and ladders working on platforms handling flexible hoses
  • Ability to perform the basic math functions addition subtraction multiplication and division
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to learn/perform basic data entry into process control computers
